This seems much closer to reality than upstreamdb's numbers.
It will be interesting to see what TRC say about 2018.Irv Millshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08030800457536589003noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2848841213670110129.post-23004467290182532382018-08-06T11:16:36.881-04:002018-08-06T11:16:36.881-04:00@ Joe

I did a quick google for dirt on upstreamdb and didn't find any criticisms.
As you say, the Texas Railroad Commission show continual growth up to 2017. Anyway, I'll keep an eye peeled and let you know if I find anything that explains the discrepancy.
Wait, I just had a closer look at upstreamdb graph--it appears to be saying that 2016 production in Texas was over one trillion (1,000,000,000) barrels of oil. that is clearly wrong, since the whole world only produces something like 36 billion barrel per year. So there is definitely something wacky about that graph.Irv Millshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08030800457536589003noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2848841213670110129.post-10080390999332841912018-08-05T01:36:37.214-04:002018-08-05T01:36:37.214-04:00Irv,

Both oil and gas production in Texas have trended up continuously and are now at record highs. Try the Texas Railroad Commission site; they keep the records. http://www.rrc.state.tx.us/oil-gas/research-and-statistics/production-data/historical-production-data/crude-oil-production-and-well-counts-since-1935/

The RRC is very slow to update records based on production reports from oil companies, so totals don't stabilize until data are several months old. 2017 data should be pretty accurate.Joehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01251330546889158364noreply@blogger.com
